What do our hotel stars stand for?

loading="lazy"
A hotel's stars help to differentiate it from others. Indeed, the number of stars a hotel has has a certain significance: a five-star hotel will offer superior service to a four-star hotel. In the case of the Hôtel de la Cité, you'll be aware that our hotel in Saint Malo has three stars, making it a "first class" establishment. But let's take a look at the significance of each of a hotel's stars.

Five-star hotels

It's unlikely that a hotel in St Malo is in the next category. Indeed, five-star hotels offer the highest level of facilities and services, so much so that they are often nicknamed "luxury hotels". Most five-star hotels feature several restaurants with sophisticated menus. They are elegant and feature top-of-the-range equipment.

Four-star hotels

Four-star hotels, or "superior hotels", are large, elegantly furnished establishments in a fairly formal style. The service in such hotels is similar to that of five-star hotels: they contain at least one gourmet restaurant, and room service is provided for most of the day. Four-star hotels are also often located close to boutiques, stores and other attractions.

Three-star hotels

Three-star hotels have a large capacity and are known as "first class" hotels. Our hotel in Saint Malo belongs to this category. In this type of establishment, there's no luggage storage service, but well-equipped rooms, decorated lobbies and a medium-sized restaurant offering refined cuisine.

Two star hotels

Generally small and reasonably sized, two-star hotels are either modestly owned or part of a chain specializing in this particular star range. Their rooms are inexpensive but clean and well-equipped. Two star hotels don't have restaurants, but they are close to places where you can eat.

One-star hotels

A one-star hotel is often small and reasonably priced. Generally located close to the main attractions, one-star hotels offer their guests rooms equipped with telephone and television. On the other hand, decoration is very impersonal. Unlike our cheap hotel in St Malo, the restaurant service is also limited.
